THE ANTS

Whenever one of the family entered another room,
the furniture had been rearranged.
While asleep, their beds levitated as if possessed.
Food began to disappear and the mother became tired
of scolding the cocker spaniel.

“Ghosts,” the father said.  The family was not so sure
of which street they lived on.  Each morning,
they would wake to find their house in another part of town--
the mail hopelessly lost, as were the children
coming home from school.

"The Ants" was published by Snapdragon and reprinted by Light Year ‘87, Bits Press.
